Hemn A. Hussein is a Kurdish multidisciplinary artist from the Southern region of Kurdistan. He has a Bachelor´s degree in English philology and a Master's degree in Social sciences/ International Relations.

In 2016, Hemn collaborates with the Slemani Film Foundation and serves as the Director of Communications of the Slemani International Film Festival (SIFF)

His artistic journey intensifies with his arrival to Iceland in 2020 as an asylum seeker and since then he has been collaborating with local and international organizations on multiple art projects including painting, sensory, inclusive, interactive and immersive theatre, performance art and filmmaking.

Hemn experiments with style, creation and content in order to find his own unique path to his art. His artworks are abstract and spiritually surreal with a complete embrace of geometry.

Abstract, for the sole reason of indicating a departure from reality in depiction of the imagery. Surreal, because of the appearance of the un-identified humanoid figures and geometric, by the use of intense and calculative sacred geometry. Although Hemn tends to liberate the viewers to interpret the artworks through their subjective feelings, thoughts and emotions, there are different realms of communicated messages within his work. Often time there is a schematic look at first glimpse that is definitive and perceptible by anyone who comes across the art. However through a deeper glance one realizes there is more to what catches the eyes and there surely must be a bigger picture through the emotions the artworks activate in the hope of an exchange of energy with the conscious mind of the viewer linked completely to the interpretation of their hearts. However the artworks would not stop there as there is always a separate, different and direct message communicated to the subconscious mind of the viewer right in to soul and that message in particular comes in the form of gratitude realized by the personification of the divine signature.

Hemn is a philanthropist at heart by investing his time and expertise in the field of youth work through gaining extensive training in working with youth with a special focus on marginalized groups such as refugees through guidance, counseling. As well as organizing and managing art related projects in the form of non-formal education.

His journey will go on abroad and in Iceland where he calls 'Heim' or Home.
